If you are selling on Myntra, you already know that customer returns and RTOs (Return to Origin) are just part of the business. But what happens when a return is damaged, completely missing, or replaced with a fake, used item?
Every lost product is a direct hit to your profit margin. This is where Myntra’s Seller Protection Fund (SPF) steps in. However, getting those claims approved requires strict adherence to Myntra's ever-changing guidelines.
Here is exactly how to navigate the Myntra SPF claim process, avoid rejections, and recover your money.
1. What is a Myntra SPF Claim?
The Seller Protection Fund (SPF) is a policy designed to compensate sellers for losses incurred during the fulfilment and return process.
You are entitled to raise an SPF claim if:
Your product is not returned to you within sixty (60) days from the Return Creation Date or RTO creation date.
You receive a courier return in an unacceptable, damaged, or empty state.
2. Why Your SPF Claims Keep Getting Rejected (The Mandatory Checklist)
Myntra has tightened its rules for claim approvals. If you miss even one of these steps, your claim will be automatically rejected.
Video Management System (VMS) is Mandatory: You must provide clear forward video footage showcasing your Quality Check (QC) process. Packaging must be done on designated tables under high-resolution CCTV cameras to record every single item being packed. Any claim raised without this VMS proof will be rejected immediately.
You Must Use Tag Loops: For all mandatory article types, you must attach a Tag Loop or Security Seal. If a Tag Loop is missing, an inaccurate barcode is scanned, or you use an unauthorized Tag Loop series, that product is entirely ineligible for an SPF claim.
Strict Handover Scanning: Always ensure the Logistics Service Provider scans your shipments using the First Mile Pickup Application (FMPU) before they leave your warehouse. The count captured on their app is considered final.
Manifest Signatures for Manual Handovers: If the FMPU app isn't used, you are mandatorily required to update tracking numbers on a Manifest Document and get it physically signed by the logistics executive. You must maintain this document for a minimum of ninety (90) days.
3. How to Raise Your SPF Ticket Correctly
When you identify a missing or damaged return, you must raise the issue in the correct system category to avoid delays.
Log into your Myntra Partner Portal.
Navigate to the specific path: Partner Portal > Services > Seller Protection Fund.
Upload your mandatory VMS footage, minimum of three (3) clear images of the damaged product showing the Order ID/Return ID, and submit your ticket.
4. Stop Chasing Returns. Start Building Strategy.
Tracking every single dispatch, monitoring the 60-day Return & RTO window, saving CCTV footage, and fighting rejected tickets takes hours of administrative work away from growing your business.
